SEASONS
What Are Seasons?
In this portion I aim to answer a question that seems simple, but in reality is a complex topic. This question as the title suggests is "what are seasons". In order to completely answer the other topics in store we must answer this one first.
So, what are seasons? A season is a passage of time on Earth describing the heat, light, and other factors of that time period. There are four seasons in all that all have different describing features. These seasons are spring, summer, autumn, and winter.
Here are some of the characteristics of each season:
- Spring:
- Plants start growing
- Weather starts to warm up
- Equal days and nights
- Vernal equinox
- Summer:
- Plants are fully grown
- Warmest days of the year
- Longer days, shorter nights
- Summer solstice
- Autumn:
- Plants start wilting
- Weather starts to cool down
- Equal days and nights
- Autumnal equinox
- Winter:
- Plants are fully wilted
- Coldest days of the year
- Shorter days, longer nights
- Winter solstice
As this page goes on and you read more about the seasons you will get more of an idea of what solstices and equinoxes are as well as how they happen.
What Causes Seasons?
Now this is where the topics start to get more complex. What causes seasons? Well the simple answer to that is tilt and revolution, but there is more to it.
In order to completely understand it you will need to first understand tilt and revolution as well as other topics.
